Recapish
Tyler
Pill had very mixed results Monday night in Reading, as he struck out a
career-high 12-batters with some great swing-and-miss numbers, but he also
allowed 5 runs to take the L for the game. Eight of nine B-Mets batters reached
safely at least once in this game, so they had plenty of opportunities to add
on, but managed just 3 runs because they left 8 runners in scoring position.
Pill
was mixing in some great secondaries from the start, which led to a lot of
swinging strikes on pitches near the zone. This really opened the door for
Pill, as he was then able to expand the zone with his secondaries late, which led
to a lot of ugly swings at stuff in the dirt – see the highlights below for
some examples. He also got to bat for the first time this year, and he’d pick
up a big two run single during the B-Mets only rally.
This
game turned on a dime in the bottom of the 8th, when two of the
first three Reading battings smacked extra base hits off of Pill. K.C. Serna
provided the knockout blow with a two run shot to left center that knocked Pill
out of the game.
I
break down the scoring details below with highlights, so enjoy! This series
continues Tuesday morning starting at 11:35 AM, with no B-Mets starter
announced as of this posting.
Scoring Highlights
Phillip
Evans picked up the B-Mets first hit of the game with a single in the 3rd
inning.
The
B-Mets scored 3 runs on 4 hits, 4 walks, a HP, and a sac fly in the 5th
inning. L.J. Mazzilli, Evans, and Tyler Pill provided the singles for
Binghamton, and Derrik Gibson brought home the third run with a sac fly to CF.
Jared
King and Kyle Johnson added doubles in the game, but they just became two more
baserunners the B-Mets stranded in this game.
