The Las Vegas 51s won a wild affair to start their series in Colorado Springs Thursday night, blowing a 6-run lead before jumping back ahead and clinging to a 7-6 win.

The 51s scored 6 runs in the game before an out was made, capped by back-to-back homers from Travis Taijeron and Ty Kelly. Montero would bat and be hit by a pitch before his first pitch of the game, and then he came out a little rough in the 1^st. Montero issued a one out walk to Michael Reed in the inning, and allowed a pair of doubles for two Sky Sox runs.

The game wouldn’t get any easier for Montero after that, and he had 0 clean innings in the start. While the results weren’t as nice as his past two outings (11.2 scoreless innings with 13 K), Montero did flash one of the nicer sliders I’ve seen from him, and kept the 51s ahead over his 5 IP. He just didn't have good command in this one.

Given how they had been chipping away at the lead from the get go, it wasn’t surprising when the Sky Sox tied this game up in the 7^th. The 51s offense had been asleep since the 1^st, but the tie game woke the bats up long enough for Las Vegas to score one more run.

Josh Edgin faced one batter after the game had been tied in the 7^th, threw 4 sliders, and picked up the K. Chase Bradford worked a quick 8^th, and then Paul Sewald closed out the game for his 6^th save of the year. Sewald benefitted from a great throw by Roger Bernadina, which nailed the potential tying run out at home.
