The Binghamton Mets took a tough loss Saturday afternoon against Akron, failing to convert after their ace gave them 6 innings of one run ball. Victor Cruzado provided the only offense for the B-Mets in the game, launching a homerun over the RF wall in the 2^nd to give the team an early 1-0 lead.

Robert Gsellman was very effective once again for Binghamton, but one of the few mistake pitches he made was crushed to deep right center off the bat of Bradley Zimmer – aka, the Indians #1 prospect. Zimmer went deep off Gsellman’s new slider, but the pitch flashed serious potential Saturday, as you can see in the pitch log below.

The B-Mets had several opportunities to add on against Akron starter Adam Plutko, but Plutko was always able to get the big out to keep the game close. After strong outings from both starters, the bullpens came in and continued to dominate the game. Neither side would flinch until the 11^th, when the first pitch of the inning from Mike Hepple was launched to dead center off the bat of Nellie Rodriguez. Binghamton got two runners on in the bottom half of the frame, but again failed to come through with a big hit.

This series wraps up Sunday afternoon in Binghamton, with Andrew Barbosa (1-0, 3.12 ERA) scheduled to pitch at 1:05 PM.

Victor Cruzado put the B-Mets on the board with a solo blast in the 2^nd inning – the homerun came on a 90 MPH fastball. Xorge Carrillo hit a two out double in the frame, but it would lead to nothing.
