Recapish

The 51s got their shortstop back and healthy Tuesday night, and he picked up 3 hits, but Las Vegas still lost their second straight to Nashville. Making his first appearance for Las Vegas in 16 days, Gilmartin did not have his best stuff and would be roughed up for 9 of the Nashville runs.
Although the Sounds dominated the scoreboard, there were two former B-Mets shortstops that stole the show. For Las Vegas, Gavin Cecchini had a huge return, making hard contact for all 3 of his hits. For Nashville, it was Josh Rodriguez who shined, as he finished the night with 3 hits, including a pair of doubles and a blast.
The 51s actually held an early lead thanks to those Cecchini doubles. He advanced Nevin Ashley to 3B with a double that bounced to the CF wall in the 2nd – not sure how Ashley didn’t score. Kyle Johnson then tied the game at 1 with an RBI single, his first PCL hit of the year. Dilson Herrera added a sac fly to give Las Vegas their first lead. Cecchini’s next double knocked in T.J. Rivera in the 3rd inning, and the 51s would again have Ashley and Cecchini in scoring position, but they couldn’t add on further.
This game was decided in the 4th and 5th innings, when Nashville erupted for 9 runs. Josh Rodriguez capped the scoring with 2 RBI’s in both frames, launching a homerun in the 4th and connecting for a double in the 5th. Chad Pinder also went deep as the Sounds piled on against Gilmartin, providing a three run blast one batter before he was knocked out of the game.
The 51s pen did a good job for the final 4 innings, with Stolmy Pimentel providing 2 consecutive scoreless innings for the first time in a long time. Erik Goeddel had the best frame of the night when he struck out the side in the 9th.
The Las Vegas 51s try to get back to their winning ways when this series continues Wednesday night at 10:05 PM. They turn to Rafael Montero (2-1, 4.41 ERA) to stop the 2-game skid.
