Recapish

The Las Vegas 51s rode a fine start from Sean Gilmartin and a bunch of extra base hits to victory Sunday afternoon. Dilson Herrera fell a hit shy of the cycle for the second time this week, this time lacking the triple after needing a double last time.
The 51s offense has been red hot the past week, and it seems like everyone in the lineup is a threat for a big night every night right now. Another big game from Dilson Herrera is the headliner, but Brandon Nimmo added another pair of hits, including a well-struck double, and T.J. Rivera added a pair of extra base hits, including his fourth homerun of the year. They hit 3 homeruns in a 4-batter span during the 4th inning, and just like that the game was theirs. They added 4 more runs in a flash during the 5th, which is when Rivera went deep.
Sean Gilmartin is dealing right now and should be a useful spot starter if the Mets need one from the minors. His fine outings are almost to be expected at this point, but Erik Goeddel has been struggling with command in 2016, so his strong outing was nice to see. After struggling early in the season, the 51s pen was a strength last week.
I break down the scoring details below with highlights, so enjoy! This series wraps up Monday night at 10:05 PM, with Rafael Montero scheduled to pitch for Las Vegas.

Scoring Highlights

Brandon Nimmo doubled in his first AB.

Ty Kelly hit a two out double in the 2nd inning and came home on Sean Gilmartin’s first hit of the game and RBI as a pro. Dilson Herrera added a single in the frame.

Three of the first four Las Vegas batters of the 4th homered: Marc Krauss and Ty Kelly to nearly the same spot in RF, and then Dilson Herrera to LF. T.J. Rivera picked up a two out double in the frame, and then scored on Roger Bernadina’s second hit of the game.

Five straight 51s batters reached with two outs in the 5th inning. Gilmartin drew the walk to get things started, and then went to 3B on Dilson’s double. Nimmo singled them both in to make it a 7-1 game. T.J. Rivera capped the scoring for the day with a two run homer to left center.
