Recapish
Trailing
5-1 after 5, the Las Vegas 51s would rally for 8 runs over the next 3 innings
to take control of Sunday’s matinee in OKC. Roger Bernadina had a big game at
the plate and in the field, while Dilson Herrera stayed red hot for Las Vegas.
Seth Lugo retired the first 5 Dodgers
batters in a row, but then the Dodgers rallied for 3 runs in the 2nd
and 2 more in the 3rd. Both OKC rallies started after Lugo issued a
walk, the second of which came leading off the 3rd inning. With such
a high pitch count in consecutive innings, I was glad to see Wally just take
him out after 3 and let his pen go to work. They did just that, shutting the
Dodgers down until the 9th, when OKC put up one last fight.
With the Dodgers threatening in the
9th, Paul Sewald came in to shut the door. He’d allow a two run
single to Corey Brown immediately after entering, but then settled down to K
the final two batters of the game. He threw 3 straight sliders for the first K,
and it’s pretty nasty, so go check it out at the bottom!
I
break down the offensive details with highlights below, so enjoy! This series continues
Monday evening at 8:05 PM, with Duane Below (1-3, 5.22 ERA) scheduled to pitch
for the Las Vegas 51s.
Scoring Highlights
Roger
Bernadina tripled home Travis Taijeron for the games first run.
Brandon
Nimmo picked up his hit with two outs in the 3rd inning.
Dilson
Herrera sparked the 6th inning rally with a leadoff double. He came
around to score on singles from T.J. Rivera and Johnny Monell, and then Rivera
came home on an E5. The 51s loaded the bases with one out in the inning but
Matt Reynolds and Marc Krauss struck out swinging to end the threat.
Ty
Kelly led off the 7th inning with a single hit into CF and then
scored on Dilson Herrera’s 7th homerun of the year! Roger Bernadina
would double home Monell later in the inning.
The
51s scored their first run of the 8th inning thanks to a pair of
walks followed by a pair of wild pitches. Then Nimmo came home on Rivera’s
second hit of the game.
