Homeruns
Victor
Cruzado hit his third homerun of the year for the B-Mets on
Saturday – all three have been yanked to RF at NYSEG.
Before
the Fireflies game was suspended due to a light
outage Saturday, Jeffrey Diehl launched a no-doubt grand slam to left
center field that gave Columbia a 5-0 lead in Greenville.
The
Las Vegas 51s hit 4 homeruns Sunday
in Sacramento, including 3 in 4 batters during the 4th inning. Marc Krauss, Ty Kelly, Dilson Herrera, and T.J. Rivera went deep.
Matt
Oberste hit the system’s second grand slam of the past week Wednesday
in Reading, but his was hit in a losing effort. He then went deep for a second
straight day in the 9th against Portland last night.
Defense
Smith
has always been lauded for his defense at 1B, but it’s not common to see big
plays from first baseman. He did a nice job handling this sharp grounder to his
right last
Friday.
Ramos’
defense has been as good as advertised so far with Columbia, and it seems like
he’s been good for at least one highlight reel play per series. He looked great
making a range of plays between Saturday
and Sunday
in Greenville.
Given
the surgery he went through, there were questions about Thompson’s arm when he
was drafted, but so far it looks like he’ll have enough arm strength to stick
at the hot corner.

From Thursday:
Wilson
must like playing behind Thomas McIlraith or something, because this is the
second great diving catch he’s made for him this year – the first one saved the
no-hitter!
Pitching
After
a couple of bad outings to start the year, Dario Alvarez has really turned it
around lately, and he has 23 K in 11.1 IP this year. He K’d 4 over 2 IP last
Friday.
Ynoa
allowed just 2 R over 15 IP (2 GS) since last Friday, which dropped his ERA to
1.77. Only concern is that he hasn’t had many K’s during this stretch,
finishing with just 2 Saturday
and 3 last night.
Gsellman’s
stock is definitely on the rise so far in 2016, and he’s been an ace for
Binghamton. He’s added in a mid-to-upper 80’s slider and has been sitting 92-95
MPH with his fastball. He only finished with 3 strikeouts on
Saturday, but he’s nearly doubled his Double-A strikeout rate – 12.7% in
2015, 20.9% so far in 2016 – and he added 5 K’s over 5 innings last night.
Pill
never looked comfortable with Las Vegas last year, and it turned into a
forgettable year. He reportedly came into Spring Training with a ‘fresh arm’
and has been pitching much better lately. He set a career high with 12
strikeouts against Reading Monday,
getting a tough lineup to chase in and out of the zone.
After
showing so much promise before the 2014 season, Montero has become the
forgotten pitching prospect within the Mets system, but his stuff is coming
back. His command was shaky for a few batters Monday
in Sacramento, but he finished with 6 K’s over 5.2 scoreless innings.
The
Mets signed Delgado out of Indy ball last year to join a depleted Savannah
rotation and he’s run with it. He was St. Lucie’s best starter over the first
month plus, which has earned him at least a temporary spot in the B-Mets
rotation. He doesn’t over power batters with his fastball, but all of his
pitches flashed nice movement in this start.
McIlraith
had a couple of rough outings after the no-hitter, but has settled into the SAL
nicely since then. He looks to pitch to contact early with his 89-93 MPH
Fastball, but he has a standard 4-pitch mix, which helped pick up 5 K’s last
night.
Taylor
has been on fire out of the B-Mets pen, and he picked up 8 K’s over 4 IP this
past week. Overall, he has 16 K in his last 9 IP, or 40 batters faced.
