Recapish
After
completing Saturday’s game in blowout
fashion earlier in the day, the Columbia Fireflies offense left too many on
base in game two, and fell 5-4 to Greenville on a late Drive run.
Greenville
took an early 2-0 lead thanks to a pair of triples in each of the first 2
innings. Columbia jumped ahead with three runs during a two out rally in the 3rd,
but the Drive were quick to take the lead back against Shaw. The Fireflies
would tie it up in the 4th, and that’s how the game stayed until the
bottom of the 6th inning, when the Drive put together a two out
rally of their own for the games final run.

Kevin
Kaczmarski singled into RF in his first AB off the DL. Unfortunately, Kacz
would be thrown out trying to steal 2B right before Vinny Siena picked up his
first hit of the game.
After
the first two Fireflies batters were retired in the 3rd, the next 6
reached safely. Kaczmarski (86 MPH Fastball), David Thompson (86 MPH Fastball),
and Dash Winningham (86 MPH Fastball) doubled, while Siena and Jeffrey Diehl
added singles. Ivan Wilson was the last Cola batter of the frame, and he’d put
good wood on the ball in a bases loaded situation, but ended up lining out to
LF.

score, but Cola wasted another bases loaded opportunity in the frame. Moore
came home on a bases loaded walk to Thompson.
