Recapish
The
Binghamton Mets struggles at the plate continued Sunday afternoon against
Akron, and they took a 7-1 whooping on their way out of town. Casey Delgado
finished with more strikeouts than he had in his first two Double-A starts combined
(5), but he was knocked out with his team trailing 4-1 in the 5th
inning.
The
first two Akron batters would reach against Delgado in the 1st, but
then he struck out 5 of the next 6. He was a little wild in the 3rd inning,
and it opened the door for 3 more runs for the Rubber Ducks. There was a HBP, a
walk, and a passed ball, and then Eric Haase hit a two run double to give Akron
a commanding lead.
The
4-0 lead was commanding because the B-Mets bats have been icy cold again as of
late, and they had been held in check through the first 3 innings. They would ‘rally’
for a run in the 4th, but then finished the game 0-15 from the 5th
inning on.
I
break down the few scoring highlights below, and have included a full iscore
log at the bottom, so enjoy! The B-Mets left for home Sunday night to start an
8-game home stand. They’ll host the 12-30 Richmond Flying Squirrels first, which
offers them a chance to a big step back towards .500. Mickey Jannis is
scheduled to make the 6:35 PM start Monday night, hoping to give the B-Mets
some length after failing to finish 5 innings last
week against Altoona.
MiLB.tv Scoring Highlights
Matt
Oberste picked up his hit in the 1st inning.
Victor
Cruzado reached on a bunt single in the 2nd inning.
The
B-Mets scored their only run on 3 singles in the 4th inning. Maikis
De La Cruz reached on a one out single to RF, went to 3B on Xorge Carrillo’s
hit, and then scored on L.J. Mazzilli’s. Mazzilli was the B-Mets last
baserunner of the game.
MiLB.tv Defensive Highlights
Matt
Oberste to 3B appears to have started out of necessity, but he’s been fine at
the hot corner over the past week.
