Recapish

After taking a blowout loss in game one, the Binghamton Mets turned to Tyler Pill for some depth in game two, and he delivered. Pill finished with his first complete game win as a pro, making quick work of Portland in every inning except the 5th.
The B-Mets gave Pill a 1st inning lead and he ran with it. There were two errors committed behind him over the first three innings, both of which moved a Portland runner to 3B, but Pill was able to strand them there.
He has himself to blame for the long 5th inning, as he made the mistake of issuing a leadoff walk to SS Tzu-Wei Lin. Pill would start a nice 1-6-3 double play in the inning, and it looked like he was going to escape the jam with only one run allowed, but then Cole Sturgeon went deep for the first time in 2016 to make it a 4-3 game.
The B-Mets were able to respond with an error-aided 3 run inning of their own, which I detail with highlights below. After being handed a 7-3 lead, Pill would need just 15 pitches to finish the game.
This series wraps up Sunday afternoon at 1 PM in Portland, with Casey Delgado scheduled to make his second start for Binghamton.

Scoring Highlights

Dominic Smith singled home Derrik Gibson in the 1st inning for the games first run.

Phillip Evans picked up a two out double in the 2nd inning.

Matt Oberste doubled to left field with one out in the 3rd inning and then scored on Dominic Smith’s fourth homerun of the year.

Kyle Johnson hit a solo blast in the 5th inning. Oberste followed with his second hit of the game.

Xorge Carrillo led off the 6th inning with a single and came around to score on an E1. Evans added an RBI single later in the frame, and then Jared King scored on a wild pitch before the inning ended.

Defensive Highlights

Jared King got spun around on a fly ball in the 1st but made the diving catch to keep Portland off the base.

Phillip Evans made this sparkling play on a grounder hit up the middle in the 4th inning.

Tyler Pill started a key double play in the 5th inning, but it wouldn’t have been possible without a ridiculous turn by Phillip Evans.
