Recapish
The
Las Vegas 51s clicked on all cylinders over the past 3 days in OKC, winning all
3 games to take the series after the Dodgers won the opener 1-0. Gabriel Ynoa
made the start for Las Vegas in the finale Tuesday afternoon and had one of his
least effective outings of the year, but it was still good enough for a quality
start and his 5th win.
The
Dodgers struck first thanks to a pair of doubles in the 2nd inning.
The second double was on a fly ball hit by the pitcher that Travis Taijeron
definitely should’ve caught – he broke in and didn’t have time to recover.
Ynoa
would strand a runner in scoring position over the next two frames while Las
Vegas built up a 5-1 lead. The 51s offense has been red-hot over the past 3
weeks, with 7 regulars posting an OPS north of .900 since 4/25, and the offense
machine kept going in this game – check out the details with highlights below!
The
Dodgers struck for two more against Ynoa in the 5th when James
Ramsey went deep for the 4th time this season. It was only the
second homerun Ynoa has allowed in now 50+ innings of PCL work, but it came
right after his third walk of the start – that’s high for Ynoa. He finished his
outing with a perfect 6th inning, which was his first 1-2-3 inning
of the game.
Josh
Edgin came in for the 7th and made quick work of the top of OKC’s
lineup. He hasn’t allowed a run since his first outing with St. Lucie, but he
also hasn’t pitched on consecutive days yet.
OKC
started to make this game interesting with two runs against Jeff Walters in the
9th inning. The runs came after an E5, so they were unearned, and
Walters would close the door before this game got too interesting.
The 51s have Wednesday off while they
travel to Colorado Springs for 4 with the Sky Sox. The reigning PCL Pitcher of
the Week Rafael Montero (2-1, 3.94 ERA) is scheduled to pitch for Las Vegas in
the series opener. He won the award thanks to great starts against
OKC and against
Sacramento last week.
Scoring Highlights
After
falling behind in the 2nd, Las Vegas jumped ahead with 2 in the 3rd.
Daniel Muno doubled Nevin Ashley to 3B with 0 outs and T.J. Rivera singled both
runners in with two outs.
Ty
Kelly led off the 4th inning with a single into CF and came around
to score on 3 straight walks. Brandon Nimmo also took a bases loaded walk in
the inning, and T.J. Rivera made it a 5-1 game with his second RBI single in as
many innings.
Kelly
doubled Travis Taijeron home in the 7th inning, and then scored on Marc
Krauss’ 7th bomb of the year.
Brandon
Nimmo hit a liner into CF that went for a triple with two outs in the 8th.
Defensive Highlights
Danny
Muno showed off his range at SS in this game.
Dilson
Herrera made a nice play to get the force out at 2B in the 1st
inning.
T.J.
Rivera committed a throwing error at 3B, but he made some nice plays at 3B too.
Gabriel
Ynoa and Josh Edgin fielded their position just fine.
Nimmo
had a long way to run for this pop up.
