Recapish

The Binghamton Mets finally started to score some runs again Friday night against the ‘rival’ Trenton Thunder, although their output was limited to just the one big inning. The 6 runs scored in the 4th equaled their total from the past 5 games combined, and they hadn’t reached that total in a game since their 8-7 loss last Friday.
Starter Casey Delgado dealt with some command problems over the first two innings, as he issued a pair of walks, hit a batter, and uncorked a wild pitch. Cito Culver made him pay for the command problems in the 2nd inning when Culver singled home two on a grounder through the left side. Delgado would limit the damage to two runs in the frame, striking out Dustin Fowler to strand a pair of runners in scoring position. He then went to work against the Thunder, retiring 13 of the next 15 batters before Luis Mateo took over in the 7th.
The B-Mets did very little in 7 of the frames during which they went to the plate, but that 4th inning was all they needed anyway. They batted around in the frame – aka, 10 men went to the plate – with L.J. Mazzilli (double), Derrik Gibson (triple), and Victor Cruzado (single) providing the RBI knocks.
Mateo allowed a homerun during his two-inning appearance, but it came to Tyler Austin leading off the 8th, and it just opened the door for Akeel Morris to save it in the 9th. Morris struck out two while working around a single in the frame.
I break down the scoring details with highlights below, so enjoy! This series continues Saturday night at 7:05 PM, with Mickey Jannis (1-3, 5.36 ERA) scheduled to pitch for the B-Mets.

Dominic Smith hit a ground-rule double off the warning track in the LF corner to start the 2nd inning. Maikis De La Cruz followed with an infield single, but Smith was unable to advance, and the next two batters: popped out and grounded into a double play. Mazzilli added a single in the third.

Wilmer Flores sparked the B-Mets 4th with a leadoff single one-hopped into CF. Maikis singled him to 2B two batters later, and then a Xorge Carrillo infield single loaded the bases. Binghamton would score their first run on a bases loaded walk to Jared King, and the L.J. Mazzilli doubled home a pair to give the Mets a 3-2 lead. Derrik Gibson added a two run triple two batters later, and Victor Cruzado would cap the scoring with the third infield hit fielded by the Trenton shortstop of the day.

Phillip Evans had a nice day in the field while playing SS.

Play not special but thought this was a cool angle on the pitch
