Recapish
The
Las Vegas 51s were forced into a tight spot Friday night after two of their
pitchers were sent to NY as standby’s, including the pitcher scheduled to start
Friday night (Sean Gilmartin). Spot starter Stolmy Pimentel couldn’t hold the
4-0 lead handed to him in the 1st inning, and the Sky Sox made this
game a sudden laugher after exploding for 7 runs in the 5th inning.
Pimentel
has really struggled for Las Vegas this year, so I wonder how many more looks
he gets. He might be interesting in the bullpen, but he keeps getting forced
into starting duty instead.
Wally
took Brandon Nimmo out as part of a double-switch when he brought in Jeff
Walters in the 5th inning. I’d guess he was hoping to get more than
one inning out of Walters, but Walters struggled just to finish the 5th.
Just
like in game one, the 51s offense exploded in the 1st but didn’t do
anything again until late. Also like in game one, it was T.J. Rivera picking up
the late RBI, although he went deep in the 9th inning this time.
Check
out the top highlights from this game below! This series continues Saturday
evening at 8:05 PM, with Seth Lugo (3-2, 7.91 ERA) scheduled to make the start
for Las Vegas.
MiLB.tv Scoring Highlights
The
51s jumped ahead before an out was recorded for the second straight night.
Dilson Herrera led the game off with a single and then came around to score on
Brandon Nimmo’s second triple of the year. Roger Bernadina and Ty Kelly would
double later in the inning to make it a 4-0 game.
T.J.
Rivera started another big night at the plate with a leadoff single in the 3rd.
Rivera added a single in the 5th and then launched a two run blast
with two outs in the 9th.
