Recapish
The
Binghamton Mets took a blowout loss in their opener with Portland Saturday
afternoon, getting absolutely nothing from starter Rainy Lara, and little from
the pen behind him. Lara came off the DL and was scheduled to pitch yesterday
before rain pushed the double-header back a day, but he gave them nothing
except a tired bullpen in game one Saturday.
There’s
little more to add to this game for Mets fans, except that Matt Oberste keeps picking
up hits and Stefan Sabol went deep. Lara allowed 4 extra base hits, including a
pair of homeruns, and is probably the odd man out of the rotation when Robert
Gsellman comes back next week. The few offensive highlights are detailed below,
so enjoy! This double-header continued with Tyler Pill scheduled for game two
shortly after game one ended.
Scoring Highlights
Matt
Oberste doubled home Derrik Gibson for the B-Mets first run in the 3rd
inning.
Stefan
Sabol led off the 7th inning with a homerun to LF, his first ever
Double-A homerun.
Jared
King and Maikis De La Cruz added the following singles.
Defensive Highlights
Dave
Roseboom handled this comebacker nicely in the 3rd inning.
Phil
Evans started an inning ending double play in the 4th inning.
Pitcher Coverage
Roseboom
allowed a pair of extra base hits in the 3rd, but then picked up a
strikeout of Aneury Tavarez on 3 straight swinging strikes.
Mike
Hepple picked up the only other strikeout from a B-Mets pitcher in this game
when he got Ali Solis swinging to lead off the 5th inning.
