Recapish
The
Las Vegas 51s erupted for 12 runs in Oklahoma City Monday night, forcing the
Dodgers to call on some position players to finish the game. Meanwhile, Duane
Below dominated OKC for 7 innings, which made this a really lopsided game.
Below
worked quickly and attacked the zone all game Monday, keeping his fielders on
their toes behind him, especially Brandon Nimmo. He finished with 5 K’s,
including 4 on a called strike three, and faced the minimum in 4 of 7 frames.
The only time OKC threatened against him was when Jose Tabata led off the 2nd
with a double, and Below responded by striking out the next two batters before
a line out ended the threat.
The
entire 51s lineup stayed crazy hot, especially Dilson Herrera, so check out the
highlights below! Ty Kelly made his first ever start at SS and looked good on
his few chances. He hasn’t been hitting for much power, and hasn’t hit like
this since 2012 in High-A with Baltimore, but he’s as versatile defensively as
anyone in the system.
This
series wraps up Tuesday afternoon at 12:05 PM ET, with Gabriel Ynoa (4-0, 1.77
ERA) scheduled to pitch for Las Vegas opposite Mike Bolsinger.
Scoring Highlights
Dilson
Herrera put the 51s on the board in the 1st with a solo blast to LF,
his 8th homerun of the year, all of which have been hit in May.
Marc
Krauss launched a two run homer that brought home Ty Kelly (single) in the 2nd
inning. Brandon Nimmo would single Dilson (walk) over to 3B later in the frame,
and then T.J. Rivera doubled them both home. Travis Taijeron capped the scoring
for the inning with an RBI single lined into LF.
Rivera
doubled Nimmo home again in the 4th, and Taijeron again brought
Rivera home with an RBI single lined into LF.
Rivera
hit a one out single back up the middle in the 6th inning and then
scored on a double hit by Johnny Monell.
Dilson
hit a two out double in the 9th to spark one last rally for Las
Vegas. Monell walked in Dilson and Taijeron picked up the other RBI’s with his
12th double of the year.
Defensive Highlights
Ty
Kelly’s start at SS was his first ever appearance at the position as a pro,
though you probably wouldn’t guess that from the comfortable way he made this
spinning play.
