Recap
The
B-Mets overcame an early two run deficit to escape New Hampshire with one win.
After rain pushed this game back a day, Gabriel Ynoa came out firing one of his
better efforts of the season, although it was the second time he recorded 0
strikeouts in a start. Dario Alvarez came in from the pen with two on and two
outs in the 7th, and he’d retire all 4 batters he’d face, including
3 straight strikeouts in the 8th. After the B-Mets extended their
lead in the top of the 9th, Paul Sewald came through with a perfect
bottom half to finish off his 12th save of the year.
Ynoa
was working very fast Monday night, looking ready to attack almost as soon as
he got the ball back throughout the start. He allowed only a walk over the
first 2 innings, but ran into some trouble in the 3rd inning. After
allowing a leadoff single, Ynoa would hit Dalton Pompey in the back of the head
– Pompey never went down, but he was replaced as a precaution. Dwight Smith
followed with a single lined into LF to load the based with only the one out.
The Cats got their first run on a groundout, and the K.C. Hobson added an RBI
single to make it a 2-0 lead. After the single, Ynoa retired 10 straight
through the end of the 6th. He’d allow a leadoff double in the 7th,
and then issue a walk with two outs before being removed.
Looking
ahead, the B-Mets head home to face the Harrisburg Senators, with Luis Cessa
scheduled to pitch Tuesday night at 6:35 PM.
Scoring Highlights
Michael
Conforto lined a two out single into CF in the 1st inning.
Conforto
and Brock Peterson hit back-to-back doubles with one out in the 4th.
After Brandon Nimmo walked, Josh Rodriguez singled into RF to load the bases
with just one out. Jared King kept the line moving with an RBI single into RF,
but Dustin Lawley would end the threat with a GIDP.
With
one out in the 7th, Albert Cordero launched his first homerun of the
season, and first AA homerun.
In
the 9th, the B-Mets loaded the bases against, this time on 0 hits.
Brock Peterson would come through with his second double of the game, driving
home Cordero and Gavin Cecchini.
