Recap
After
the B-Mets rallied from an early hole dug by Seth Lugo, Akeel Morris imploded
in the 8th, leading to a third straight loss for Binghamton. The
B-Mets couldn’t produce much offense against Harrisburg starter Austin Voth,
with a pair of homeruns providing all three runs. Michael Conforto nearly added
one of his own in the 6th, but the hit would bounce off the wall for
a double and the outfielder deked J Rod into holding enough that he didn’t
score. After Dario Alvarez finished the 6th and handled the 7th
cleanly, Akeel Morris really struggled in the 8th, and then Adam
Kolarek could only partially bail him out of a bases loaded situation.
Lugo allowed 3 of the first 4
batters to reach on two singles and a walk, and then the Senators jumped 2-0 on
a sac fly and RBI infield single. They added a run in the 2nd on
another RBI infield single – Gavin Cecchini had to range far to his right to
field a groundball, but he got there and his throw would’ve been in time if
Brock had picked it. Lugo hadn’t really been hit hard to begin with, but he
wasn’t hit often the rest of the way, settling in to finish one out shy of a
quality start. He’s not having the same quality success that he was earlier in
the season (for example, his K% has been dropping), so we’ll see if he can make
some adjustments, but still an interesting arm moving forward.
Akeel Morris took over in the 8th
and he never really had it, allowing the first 4 batters to reach, and being
asked to intentionally walk the sixth before being replaced by Adam Kolarek. After
a brief rough patch, Kolarek has been back in the groove lately.
The B-Mets head to Akron Saturday
to start a series against the Curve, with Gabriel Ynoa scheduled to start in
the opener at 7:05 PM.
Scoring Highlights
Brock
Peterson hit a solo homerun leading off the 2nd inning.
Josh
Rodriguez hit a two run homerun with two outs in the 3rd inning.
With
J Rod on 1B and 0 outs, Michael Conforto doubled him to 3B in the 6th,
but the B-Mets would leave the bases loaded (Brandon Nimmo was intentionally
walked during the inning).
