Post-game recap: A wild Robert Whalen couldn’t work around an error in the 4th, allowing the Hammerheads to tie the game, which is how things stood until Felix Munoz hit a walk off grand slam in the 14th. Champ Stuart bunted one of the first pitches of the game in the 1st, and worked his way around the bases to score and give St. Lucie a 1-0 lead before Whalen took the mound. Whalen struggled with his command early, throwing more balls than strikes over the first two innings (per the radio), but he was able to keep Jupiter in check over the first 3 frames. With two outs and two on in the 1st (both from walks), Justin Bohn hit a ball headed for LF that Amed Rosario made a diving stop on, but he couldn’t record the third out on the play. But Whalen induced another groundout his way from the next batter, and Rosario flipped to 2B to end the threat. The first 3 Mets reached in the 2nd – walk, Rosario single, HBP – but they’d have to trade two outs for a run when Evans hit a double play grounder to 2B. In the 4th, Bohn hit a one out single to RF, and then went to 3B on a fielding error from Evans that allowed J.T. Riddle to reach. Riddle would get into scoring position with his 7th stolen base of the year, and then Blake Barger singled him home. Things stayed scoreless until the 14th, when Julian Hilario came in for St. Lucie. Hilario was having a very nice season for St. Lucie earlier in the year, but he’s been like a gas hose near a fire since his promotion to Binghamton, and this outing was no different. He allowed a leadoff single, and then walked the bases loaded (one walk was intentional), before pinch-hitter Felix Munoz ended the game with a slam to RF>

Post-game recap: The Cyclones won their second straight series of 2015 Wednesday, getting a walk off win in the 12th over Tri-City, and it was kind of a big Diehl. Cyclones starter Jose Celas was very wild Wednesday, but Tri-City had trouble squaring him up when he did hit the zone, managing only 3 singles against him. He only threw more than 50% strikes in one inning, and he didn’t even finish it. Cats leadoff batter Johnny Sewald would steal 3B and then score when the throw from Ramos was errant, which gave Tri-City a 1-0 lead. Alfredo Reyes led off the 6th with a double for Brooklyn, and then weirdness ensued. Reyes would advance to 3B on an E5, and then Tharp hit into one of the most unusual double plays you’ll ever see, the 5-2-5 double play – Reyes was thrown out at home, and then Ramos thrown out trying to go to 3B. Tharp would advance to 2B on a wild pitch, and then score on an RBI single from Siena. The game remained tied at 1 until the 12th, when Enmanuel Zabala led off the inning with a walk for Brooklyn. After Katz failed to bunt him over, Jeff Diehl picked up the walkoff RBI triple to RF, which is why it was kind of a big Diehl.

Post-game recap: After 3 shutout innings with great control, K-Mets starter Erik Manoah was burned by some poor control in the 4th and 5th innings, as the JC Cardinals jumped out to a 10-2 lead. The Mets had built up a 2-0 lead over the first 3 innings, with a run in the 1st and 3rd inning. After Ramirez started the game with a hit for the second straight night, Carpio hit a ground-rule double to CF for a potential big inning. They’d have to settle for a sac fly from Dash, which was the start of a trend of poor hitting with RISP, as the team went just 2-14 in the game. In the 3rd, Patrick Mazekia’s first pro hit was a double that brought home Luis Carpio from 1B. Manoah would walk the first batter of the 4th, and then the bases ended up loaded with nobody outs on two straight singles. The Cardinals would tie it up in the frame on two straight sac flies. The first 4 batters would reach against Manoah in the 5th – HBP, single, BB, two run single – before he struck out Hunter Newman. Then Jesus Ustariz knocked Manoah out with a two run double. Nuez came in and got two grounders to his middle infielders, but they could only get 1 out on a fielder’s choice, and Ramos committed his first error of the year. The next 3 would reach against Nuez before he ended the frame with a strikeout. Ramirez sparked a two run 5th with a single into RF. He’d steal his first base of the year – he had 16 steals in his final 19 games last year – and then score on a single from Dash. Ramos added an RBI single in the frame. In the 7th, Mazeika hit his 2nd double of the game, and then scored on a bases loaded walk to Berrios.

Minors MVP of the Day – Jeff Diehl tripled home the walk off run for the only win in the system Wednesday, so he definitely deserves the MVP!
Minors Cy of the Day – Both Pill and Fulmer deserved to win, but Fulmer was more effective over a longer outing, so he gets the nod. This makes 3 straight very strong starts from Fulmer - more on this in the recap later.
