Brendan Illies is a 2015 C/RHP with a 6-1 190 lb. frame from Edgewood, WA who attends Puyallup HS. Strong mature athletic build. Very good defensive tools and actions, good footwork and lateral quickness, long loose whippy arm with very good carry, stays low and compact through release on throws, 1.89 in drills, 2.07 in game, accurate, can make the snap throws behind runners with shortened actions well. Right handed hitter, exaggerated inside the ball approach with a high extended finish, big wrapped start creates length, has lots of strength in his swing and creates bat speed, sees the ball very well and recognizes pitches, good game swings with good timing, mid field contact, has untapped power potential with adjustments. Also pitched, balanced leg raise delivery, quick arm coming through, works downhill and throws strikes with all pitches. Fastball topped out at 88 mph, some arm side running action, tended to slow arm on off speed pitches, showed all four pitches, best stuff was from the stretch. Strong versatile athlete with lots of tools and skills. Excellent student, verbal commitment to North Carolina. ~6/12/2014
