Recap
Recently
promoted Michael Conforto doubled home two in the 9th to give
Binghamton a walk off win Friday night against Reading. After some poor defense
from Gavin Cecchini led to a 3-0 Reading lead after 2, the B-Mets charged ahead
with 6 runs between the 3rd and 5th, appearing to take
control of the game. Unfortunately, starter Michael Fulmer hit a wall in the 6th,
recording only one out from the 5 batters he faced before Matt Koch took over.
Koch would allow both inherited runners to score to give the Fightin’s the lead
back, but the B-Mets bullpen held ground behind him. Down a run to start the 9th,
Gilbert Gomez led off with a groundout, but Yeixon Ruiz reached on a bunt
single to get things going – Ruiz would collide with the second baseman at 2B,
but he’d stay in the game. After a pitching change, Cecchini’s fourth hit of
the night put the tying runs on for Michael Conforto. Conforto came through
with a huge double to the LF wall, and Cecchini was able to score the winning
run from 1B.
The
series continues Saturday night at 7:05 PM, with Robert Gsellman scheduled to
make his second AA start.
The
B-Mets scored 4 runs on 2 hits in the 3rd thanks to a grand slam from
the newest Met, Brock Peterson.
Two
two-out singles and an E8 in the 4th led to the B-Mets next run –
throw to 3B sailed into the stands.

Cecchini
led off the 5th with a double, and then Conforto drove him in with a
single into RF.
Cheech
added another double in the 7th, but he’d be stranded at 2B.
Yeixon
Ruiz reached on a one out bunt singe in the 9th, and then moved to
2B on Cecchini’s fourth hit of the game, which set the stage for the highest
profile hitter in the Mets farm system, Michael Conforto, who came through with
a walk off double!
