Perfect Game Profile
Vinny Siena is a 2012 MIF/3B with a 5-9 180 lb. frame from Woodbridge, CT who attends Amity. Strong athletic build, well-developed body. Fast-twitch athlete, 6.86 sixty, highest-level tools. Very good offensive tools to work with, quick hands, good bat speed, stays inside the ball well, drives the ball hard to all parts of the field, really swung it in games, advanced hitting approach. Big arm strength in the field, good MIF tools, athletic, quick transfer and release, feet work. Highest-level prospect. ~8/28/2010Baseball America
Siena brought outstanding fast twitch ability to UConn and contributed right away, starting every single game and hitting over .300 as a freshman in 2013. Siena then went to the Cape Cod League and struggled at the plate, before struggling further as a sophomore and then again in the NECBL this past summer. He maintained above-average bat speed, but his bat path was longer and he was more aggressive early in counts, swinging and missing often. Siena has calmed things down in his swing this spring, and broke out with the best season of his career, hitting .362 with seven home runs. Siena is a versatile defender, with the plus arm and quick first step to play second, third, or potentially a corner outfield spot. The only knock on Siena is his size. At 5-foot-10, he doesn’t exactly fit the body prototype, but his tools are loud. Had he performed more consistently Siena could have been significantly higher on this list.
