Recap
B-Mets
starter Luis Cessa struggled with control early against a Harrisburg team
stacked with 5 solid lefties (4 pure lefties, 1 switch-hitter), but the B-Mets
bats were able to bail him out thanks to some key hits from Brock Peterson and
the pinch-hitting Aderlin Rodriguez. The B-Mets bullpen came into the series on
fire lately, and continued their dominance with 4 shutout innings Tuesday
night, holding on after the Mets got their one run lead back.
Cessa
has shown great control throughout all of his starts this season, throwing
strikes 68% of the time coming into this start, so throwing only 14 of 26
pitches for strikes in the 1st (54%) was well below his norm. He
wasn’t getting the calls on some close pitches, but he also left some pitches
up that were hit hard for singles. In total, the Senators picked up 5 of their
hits off Cessa in the 1st, all singles. The first two reached, and
then 3 straight two out singles led to the 3 runs. He’d work himself into and
out of trouble over the next 3 frames, but couldn’t maneuver safely through the
5th. Again the trouble came with two outs, as he allowed an RBI
triple, followed by an RBI single before his night came to an end. It sounded
like his fastball was sitting 93-96 MPH throughout the start, and that he was
working in his changeup more than usual with all of the lefties in the game.

out the scoring highlights and details from the game below. This series
continues Wednesday night at 6:35 PM, with Michael Fulmer scheduled to pitch
for Binghamton.
Scoring Highlights
L.J.
Mazzilli smacked a one out single back up the middle in the 1st, and
then Brock Peterson put the B-Mets on the board with his third homerun since
joining the team.
Cessa
sparked the 2nd inning rally to take the lead with a one out infield
single – he’d collide with the first baseman, but both would be OK. Cecchini
and Mazzilli followed with singles to load the bases for Michael Conforto. He
couldn’t come through with a hit, but he’d beat out his slow groundout to 2B
for an RBI force out. Brock followed with his second RBI hit in as many innings
to put the B-Mets ahead 4-3.
With
Eudy Pina on 1B in the 6th, Aderlin Rodriguez hit a pinch-hit RBI
double to tie the game. He’d advance to 3B on the throw home, and then score on
a sac fly from Cecchini to give the B-Mets a lead.
Brandon
Nimmo added a pair of singles: after the Peterson HR in the 1st, and
with one out in the 5th.
