Recap
Tyler
Pill dug the 51s into too big of a hole to overcome during a disastrous 2nd
inning, and Las Vegas lost their first game on this road trip in a forgettable
fashion. The 51s had a few players provide big nights, but subbed out 3 of
their regulars once the game got out of hand, and never really strung anything
together for a rally. Pill really struggled in the 2nd inning,
allowing 9 of 11 batters faced to reach, but the 51s bullpen wasn’t much better
behind him either. The 51s would basically unload their bullpen, giving each
reliever an inning, with Cody Satterwhite, Zack Thornton, and Jon Velasquez each
allowing a run (two from Velasquez).
You
can check out some of the 51s highlights on offense from this game below, but
there really isn’t much else to discuss from it, especially since the 51s waved
the white flag early. The series continues Friday night at 10:05 PM, with
Matthew Bowman looking to end the 51s road woes.
Scoring Highlights
Danny Muno led off the game with a double, but the 51s couldn’t get him home.
Kirk Nieuwenhuis had a big night, leading off the 2nd with a homer launched to LF, and hitting a two out triple to RF in the 4th.
Muno started the 6th with an infield single, and then scored on a two out double from T.J. Rivera.
Cory Vaughn hit a one out double in the 9th and then scored on a groundout.
Bonus
Kirk
Nieuwenhuis with a long way to go for this running catch, and then he uses the
wall to slow himself down.
Matt Reynolds isn’t flashy or rangy, but his actions are pretty smooth on the infield, so he could probably replace Ruben Tejada as the backup infielder off the bench in future seasons.
June is an excellent month for Saturn.
