Right handed hitter, generates power from lower half, high hand stance with limited shift, looks to get extended, showed big power to center and right center field, ball really carries off the bat, looks like he's just tapping his potential, good game swings. Right handed hitter, rock back load and hits off his back side, rotational swing, swings hard and is very strong at contact, ball jumps hard, has adjustments to make but bat speed and strength are there. 6.99 runner, looked very smooth and comfortable at first base, footwork was good, soft hands, tools were playable at third base with arm strength and soft hands but young footwork and balance. Although he wasn't ranked as high in the national pre-draft boards as where the Mets took him, I'm starting to really like this pick. It seems likely that two things lowered his draft rankings: a hamstring injury and where he played. The injury had him out during this past Spring, so he missed out on opportunities to impress while others jumped ahead of him. The Mets saw him play in CF and they think he can stick there, while most boards were ranking him as a corners guy (3B/1B, maybe the OF), so that alone accounts for a huge difference in their respective rankings. The Mets like his hit tool, and think he can add power, which will be important if he can't stick in CF. Linday's upside is impressive for the Mets first pick considering where they were drafting, but he needs a lot to go right for him to reach it.
