Mets rolling into Atlanta with these 3 on the mound... |
Dates: June
15-18, 2015
Results: Split 2 in a home-and-home
Current Record: 36-32, 1.5 Games ahead of Washington
MVMet: Noah
Syndergaard was excellent over his 6 innings. He still has things to work on,
but he’s showing that he belongs in this rotation.
LVMet: Curtis
Granderson, Michael Cuddyer, and (to a lesser extent) John Mayberry are getting
paid too much to produce this little. They combined to go 2-34 with 10
strikeouts during this series.

The
line from Akeel Morris skews the stats, but it was still one of the weaker
performances from the Mets pen this year without his line. If you thought a
relief pitcher with an 11.7 BB% in A+ was going to jump to the majors and have
success right away, then I have a bridge for sale in Brooklyn that you might be
interested in. He can get away with so much in the FSL that he can’t even get
away with in AA, let alone the majors. The move makes sense in retrospect – he was on the 40 and
they needed a body until Verrett was recovered from his last PCL start – and I still
think Morris has a major league future, but I just hope his outing doesn’t
destroy his confidence. On the positive side, Bobby Parnell is showing that he
can still get major league hitters out, which may have been a concern for those
who could only see his minor league stat lines. Also, the Mets won a game
despite a blown save from Familia, which isn’t something I’m confident will
happen often.

The
Mets stay on the road for 3 in Atlanta and then head Milwaukee for 3 after,
