Recap

Seth Lugo did not have his swing-and-miss stuff with him Saturday evening in New Hampshire, and all of that contact that the Cats were making finally led to a big inning in the 6th. More importantly, the B-Mets had 16 hits yet scored only 4 runs, as they left 13 men on base and went only 2-15 with RISP. When Lugo got into trouble in the 6th, Pedro Lopez went to Adam Kolarek, who had been the most reliable arm in the pen for a stretch earlier this year, but who couldn’t strand either inherited runner, which was the difference in this game.
Lugo was very effective over the first 5 innings, and even though he had only induced 2 swinging strikes, his pitch count was only at 48. He had worked around a two out infield single in the 1st inning, and allowed a two out solo blast in the 2nd, but then retired 10 straight as he went out for the 6th. The 6th inning was a different story though, as all 4 batters he’d face would reach – triple, single, double, single (ended up on 2B) – before being replaced by Kolarek. Kolarek came in to face a lefty, but allowed a 2R single before he’d retired 3 in a row to finish the frame. Akeel Morris made his AA debut with a perfect 9th inning, throwing 9 of 12 pitches for strikes.
The B-Mets would have plenty of chances to add on earlier, or to come back later, but couldn’t capitalize. The series wraps up Sunday afternoon at 1:35 PM, with Gabriel Ynoa scheduled to pitch for Binghamton.

Scoring Highlights

L.J. Mazzilli started his big night with a double in the 1st inning.

Brandon Nimmo got his big night started with a single in the 2nd, and then scored on a two out double from Aderlin Rodriguez.

Mazzilli singled in the 3rd, and then scored on a single from Brandon Nimmo with two outs.

Xorge Carrillo and Aderlin began the 4th with doubles, but the B-Mets couldn’t score in the inning – hard to tell, but Aderlin’s ball deflects off of the 3B bag.

Brock Peterson led off the 5th with a homerun.

Carrillo led off the 8th with a triple, and then scored on a groundout from Aderlin.
