Check out yesterday’s results here, and the top performers from the Mets minor league farm system during the first week of June here.

John Smith of the LVRJ asks what kind of baseball town Las Vegas is – ignorable, it seems. Ashton Ferguson of the LVRJ says that Johnny Monell knows his time will come.

The Mets moved Vicente Lupo back onto the Sand Gnats roster Sunday at the expense of Tucker Tharp – thought it was weird timing to remove Lupo in the first place.

The initial FSL All-Star rosters were announced, with several PSL Mets players making the team. Also, Wuilmer Becerra and Scarlyn Reyes were named the SAL player and pitcher of the week, respectively.

Post-game recap: After a rough 1st inning, Robert Whalen settled in to give the St. Lucie Mets a quality start Monday night, allowing the offense to come back for a win. Whalen’s fastball was being hit hard in the 1st, as he allowed two hard hit doubles and a fly out to the warning track in RF. The Daytona lead would not last long, as St. Lucie scored 4 runs as fast as they could in the 2nd, with two 2R-HR’s before an out was made. Oberste led off the inning with a double down the LF line – he apparently considered going to 3B, but he’s not that fast. Smith followed with his second bomb of the year on a fly ball down the LF line – Adam Mac said it’s 317 feet down the line and Smith hit his homerun 317 feet. Rosario followed with a single on the first pitch fastball, and then stole 2B with Sabol up. Sabol would hit the second 2R bomb of the inning, but his was a no-doubter off the bat. That would be all of the scoring until the 7th, when Phil Evans tripled home Sabol, and then scored on a wild pitch. It was the second straight game with a triple for Evans. Whalen just kept getting better throughout the start, eventually retiring the final 8 batters in a row, with 3 of his strikeouts. Robert Coles allowed the first two runners to reach when he took over in the 7th, but then traded a run for a double play, and retired the next four batters in a row. Akeel Morris came out for the 9th and provided St. Lucie with his best effort of the season (per the announcer), striking out the side, with all 3 batters going down swinging.

Yesterday: W 3-1 (Savannah)
Today: Off

Minors MVP of the Day – Matt Reynolds extending his hitting streak to 8 games with a big 4-hit night. May is over, and so is his May slump.
Minors Cy of the Day – Whalen rebounded from a rough first to give St. Lucie a chance to come back and win.
