Recap

Robert Gsellman’s second AA start went much better than his first, but the Binghamton bats did nothing behind him, taking a shutout to even the series. Gsellman fell behind in the 1st after the first two Reading batters reached on singles that could’ve been outs, and a groundout put the Fightins ahead 1-0. The first single was lined just out of the reach of 3B Dustin Lawley, who was playing in on the grass to protect against the bunt. After a long AB, J.P. Crawford would reach on an infield single that deflected off the glove of a diving Brock Peterson. He’d only allow the one run in the 1st, but Gsellman needed 28 pitches to do it, as he couldn’t get his fastball over for a strike. Reading added a run in the 3rd on a pair of two out hits, but then Gsellman faced one over the minimum during his last 3 innings. Bobby Parnell worked the 9th, throwing mostly fastballs in the low-90’s, and allowing a leadoff blast to Cam Perkins, who drove in all three runs in the game.
The series wraps up Sunday in Binghamton, with Seth Lugo looking to win the rubber match at 1.

Scoring Highlights

The B-Mets were shutout, but Michael Conforto picked up a single in the 9th to extend his AA hit streak to 6 games.

Bonus

Cecchini gets his counterpart, the speedy J.P. Crawford
