Keeping track of recent minor transactions within the Mets system.
New York Mets
7/2 – The Mets signed RHP Mickey Jannis to a minor league
contract.
7/6 – The Mets optioned Darrell Ceciliani to Las Vegas and
recalled Kirk Nieuwenhuis.
7/7 – The Mets activated Jenrry Mejia from his 80-game
suspension, and sent Logan Verrett down to AAA to make room for him on the
25-man roster.
Las Vegas 51s
The AAA All-Star rosters were announced, and Las Vegas will
be represented by Matt Reynolds and Travis Taijeron.
7/2 – Moved RH SP Tyler Pill (unannounced) and LH SP Jack
Leathersich (sore arm) to the 7-day DL.
7/3 – Luis Cessa was promoted to join the rotation in Pill’s
place.
7/6 – The Mets optioned Darrell Ceciliani to Las Vegas and
recalled Kirk Nieuwenhuis. Cory Vaughn was activated off of the 7-day DL. T.J.
Rivera was placed on the 7-day DL.
7/7 – Logan Verrett was sent down to the 51s.
Binghamton Mets
The AA All-Star rosters were announced, and Binghamton will
be represented by Gavin Cecchini, Paul Sewald, Josh Rodriguez, Luis Cessa
(since promoted), and Brandon Nimmo.
7/3 –Cessa was promoted to join the 51s rotation in Pill’s
place. Michael Gibbons was promoted to join the B-Mets rotation in Cessa’s
place.
7/4 – Paul Sewald was placed on the temporary inactive list
so he can participate in the Pan-Am games. Josh Smoker was promoted from the
St. Lucie Mets to take his place in the bullpen, although I’d expect it to be a
permanent move.
7/5 – Michael Gibbons was sent back down to Brooklyn to make
room for John Gant, who was promoted from the St. Lucie Mets.
St. Lucie Mets
7/2 – Robert Whalen was placed on the 7-day DL for an
unspecified reason.
7/3 – Matthew Oberste was activated off the 7-day DL (hand)
7/4 – Mickey Jannis was assigned to join the St. Lucie Mets
for his first start within the organization. Josh Smoker was assigned to the
Binghamton Mets
7/5 – John Gant was promoted to the Binghamton Mets.
7/7 – Jeff Walters was assigned to the St. Lucie Mets to
continue his rehab from the Tommy John Surgery he had last year.
Savannah Sand Gnats
7/2 – Joe Tuschak was placed on the 7-day DL for an
unspecified reason. Adrian Abreu was placed on the restricted list after
receiving an 80-game suspension for PED’s. Natanael Ramos and Michael Katz were
promoted from Brooklyn.
7/3 – Patrick Biondi was activated off the 7-day DL.
7/5 – Wuilmer Becerra was placed on the 7-day DL retroactive
to 7/4 – Toby Hyde speculated
hamstring tweak. Tim Peterson was assigned to the Sand Gnats as he begins
his season late after an 80-game suspension for PED’s
Brooklyn Cyclones
7/2 – Michael Katz and Natanael Ramos were promoted to the
Savannah Sand Gnats.
7/3 – Michael Gibbons was assigned to the B-Mets
7/4 – Blake Taylor and Andrew Church were assigned to the Cyclones
from the GCL Mets, where they were getting a few extra innings of work after minor
injury setbacks during XST.
7/5 – Michael Gibbons was re-assigned back to the Cyclones.
Kingsport Mets
7/2 – Alvin Maracaro and Dionis Paulino were assigned to the
Kingsport Mets from the GCL Mets.
GCL Mets
7/2 – Alvin Maracaro and Dionis Paulino were assigned to the
Kingsport Mets. LHP Max Wotell (2015
3rd round pick) was activated and assigned to the GCL Mets. Ivan
Wilson was assigned to the GCL Mets for a few rehab games after suffering an
injury setback during XST.
7/4 – Blake Taylor and Andrew Church were assigned to the
Brooklyn Cyclones. Chris Flexen was sent to the GCL Mets to begin a rehab
assignment as he starts his comeback from 2014 Tommy John surgery.
7/6 – Luis Mateo was assigned to the GCL Mets for a second
comeback attempt from 2013 Tommy John surgery, with last year’s attempt lasting
only 10 innings.
DSL Mets
We may never see these guys stateside, but I’ll be keeping
an eye out for teenagers making their pro debuts in the DSL, and any
scouting/video I can find on them.
7/2 – The Mets assigned 19-year old LHP Kerwin Nieves to the
DSL Mets2 to begin his pro career. Check out some video of the kid from YouTube.
