Todd Dewey of the Las Vegas Review-Journal writes that although the Mets call-ups disrupted their flow, the 51s entered the break atop the division.

Remember that time Michael Conforto played in the futures game, and then everyone said to call him up based on watching him in one exhibition game? (Mostly everybody) Yeah, that just happened.

MiLB had a feature on Miller Diaz’s great start.

SportsLogos took a look at the story behind the Sand Gnats.

Ari Kramer of Newsday talked to David Thompson, who the Mets drafted with their 4th round pick in 2015.

Post-game recap: Casey Meisner battled some control problems against Lakeland Monday night, but worked through the scoring threats to extend the Mets scoreless streak against Lakeland to 27 innings, leading St. Lucie to a series win and 6-game winning streak. Kelly Secrest would keep the streak alive for two more innings from the pen, but Lakeland finally broke through against Julian Hilario in the 9th before Kyle Regnault closed things out. Victor Cruzado tripled and scored with two outs in the 3rd inning for St. Lucie, the first of three Mets triples in the game. Amed Rosario doubled, stole 3B, and then scored on an RBI single from Evans in the 4th to extend the Mets lead to 2-0. Rosario and McNeil had huge nights for St. Lucie, combining for 4 of the teams 5 extra base hits. McNeil doubled home two runs for the Mets in the 7th, and then scored on an E6 with two outs. Meisner would come out for the 7th with a short leash, and was removed after allowing a leadoff single. Hilario walked the first 2 Lakeland batters in the 9th, which led to a big inning for the Flying Tigerrs, but Kyle Regnault came in and did just enough to hold onto the lead.

Post-game recap: The Cyclones never got going offensively during kids day Monday afternoon, managing only four hits against a tough Aberdeen lefty, as they got shutout in the series finale. The Cyclones still won the series 2-1, but they’ll have to wait until Wednesday against the SI Yankees to get the taste of a loss out of their mouths. Even though the team barely got any offense going, it wouldn’t be a Cyclones game without a Vinny Siena hit. The only damage done against Almonte came during the 4th inning, when Cedric Mullins and Drew Turbin hit back-to-back doubles, and Randolph Gassaway picked up a sac fly. The Cyclones should get some GIFable MiLB.tv coverage against the SI Yankees this week, and are scheduled to play on SNY Thursday per their game notes.

Lineup
LF – Ricardo Cespedes – 0-4, 2 SO
SS – Franklin Correa – 0-3, 3 SO
PH – Milton Ramos – 0-1
3B – Jhoan Urena – 1-3, R, HR (1), RBI (1), BB
CF – Ivan Wilson – 0-1, BB, HBP, CS, PO
C – Ali Sanchez – 1-3
RF – Jose Medina – 1-3, CS
1B – Jose Maria – 0-3, 2 SO
DH – Will Barring – 0-3, SO
2B – Cecilio Aybar – 1-3, SO
Bullpen:
Anthony Chavez (L, 0-1, 0.00 ERA) – 1.1 IP, H, R (0 ER), SO, 1 GO: 2 FO, 2 IR – 0 S
Gabriel Llanes (3.38 ERA) – 2 IP, BB, SO, 4 GO: 1 FO

Post-game recap: The GCL Mets played sloppy defense Monday afternoon, and provided nearly nothing offensively, so it’s amazing that the game finished as close as it did. They committed four errors in the game – German (pickoff attempt), Sanchez (throw), Urena (fielding), and Correa (fielding) – including an error in both innings the GCL Cardinals scored a run. Jhoan Urena provided the GCL Mets only run of the game when he launched a solo blast to LF in the 4th. Ivan Wilson reached base twice, and he didn’t strike out, but he was eliminated on the base paths both times.

Minors MVP of the Day – Amed Rosario came a homerun shy of the cycle, making him the easy favorite on a light schedule of games.

Minors Cy of the Day – Three very solid starts to choose from, but Gabriel Ynoa was a little better for the B-Mets than either Casey Meisner or Gaby Almonte.
