Recap

Las Vegas starter Matt Bowman struggled in his third start against Reno of 2015, but the 51s offense picked him up with a huge performance, and Las Vegas got back to their winning ways. Bowman would struggle with control throughout the 3rd as the Aces jumped ahead, and then couldn’t finish the 4th after Las Vegas had just tied the game. Dario Alvarez would make his AAA debut finishing the 4th inning for Bowman, and he was credited with the win. The 51s bullpen would allow 3 runs over the final five innings after Alvarez, but Las Vegas had built up a huge lead thanks to their 9-run 5th inning – see details and highlights from the offense below. Vic Black worked a scoreless 9th to finish the game, and he’s now worked a scoreless inning in 4 of his last 5 appearances.
This series wraps up Monday night at 10:05 PM, with Darin Gorski (8-7, 5.05 ERA) scheduled to pitch for Las Vegas.

Scoring Highlights

Darrell Ceciliani doubled in his first AB back off the DL, and then came home on an RBI single from Dilson Herrera.

Travis Taijeron singled Brandon Allen (walk) to 3B with 0 outs in the 2nd inning, but the 51s had to settle for a run in exchange for two outs when Wilfredo Tovar grounded into a double play.

Danny Muno led off the 3rd with a single, and then Dilson launched a two run bomb to LF.

Taijeron hit a long double to CF with one out in the 4th inning, and then Tovar singled him home.

The first 7 Las Vegas batters reached in the 5th inning, with Ceciliani, Dilson and Johnny Monell loading the bases on singles to start the frame, an then Zach Lutz, Allen, Taijeron, and Tovar all walking in a run. The Aces would throw 49 pitches in the frame, and only 19 were for strikes. After their second pitching change, Muno singled home a pair of runs, and then Monell doubled home 3 more runs 3 batters later.

Muno and Ceciliani led off the 7th with singles, and then Muno scored on a sac fly from Dilson.

Bonus Defense

Wilfredo Tovar made a few nice plays in this game.
