Recap

It’s uncommon to see both starters last an entire game these days, but it’s especially uncommon to see both starters last an entire game in the minors, which is exactly what Brady Lail and Rainy Lara did Saturday night. With rehabbing catcher Travis d’Arnaud calling the shots, and perhaps stealing a strike or two, B-Mets starter Rainy Lara threw one of his best AA starts to date, but was burned by a three-run blast in the 6th. Travis picked up a single in his first AB of the night, but finished 1-3, and his hit was half of the B-Mets total.
Lara only had two perfect innings during the game, but he worked around trouble in 5 of the 6 innings a hit was allowed, which is often going to be good enough to get his team the win, but not against the start Brady Lail had. In the 6th inning, Xorge Carrillo replaced Travis d’Arnaud catching Rainy Lara, so it’s possible that the two just weren’t as in sync right away as Lara and d’Arnaud had been. Lara allowed a double and single before Mark Payton launched a two run blast to RF that gave Trenton their 3-0 lead. The final two batters of the frame would smoke the ball, but both went for lineout’s.
The B-Mets offense never got going against Brady Lail, but both hits are shown below, along with some nice defense. This series wraps up Sunday at 4 PM, with Seth Lugo (5-4, 3.45 ERA) scheduled to pitch for Binghamton.

Scoring Highlights

Both hits the B-Mets scraped together are presented below.

Bonus Defense

Travis d’Arnaud picked a runner off of 1B after Rainy Lara struck out Rico Noel in the 5th.

Gavin Cecchini and L.J. Mazzilli were kept busy in this game, and made a few nice plays.
