Recap

After a long (15 innings) and wild game one in Lexington Saturday night, the Sand Gnats and Legends still had 7 more innings of baseball to play, which meant advantage starting pitchers. Ricky Knapp and Corey Ray would combine for 11.2 of the 14 innings thrown in game 2, with only one other Lexington pitcher brought in during a game that lasted 2 hours and 17 minutes. Knapp allowed a run to score before recording an out in the 1st inning, but was nearly unhittable after that, saving a Savannah bullpen that was overworked in game one.
Knapp would allow more base runners before recording an out than he did once he struck out Wander Franco for the first out in the 1st inning. The first four Legends batters reached on a double, walk, RBI single, and a single that loaded the bases, but then Knapp retired 7 straight, and 21 of the final 24 Lexington batters in the game. He was attacking the zone well, and featured an effective curveball throughout.
These two teams were scheduled to finish their series Sunday evening, but rain intervened and it looks like they might not make it up this year.

Scoring Highlights

Luis Guillorme picked up a one out single to CF in the 1st inning, but he would be caught stealing to end the frame.

Jonathan Johnson reached on an infield single to the SS leading off the 4th inning, and then scored on a force out/E4.

Joe Tuschak would spark the 5th inning rally with a one out single to CF, and then came around to score on a throwing error from the second baseman Logan Davis. John Mora kept the inning alive with a two out RBI single to LF that gave Savannah a 3-2 lead. Eudor Garcia would single him over to 3B, and then Mora scored on an E2 after Eudor stole 2B.
