Recap
Dillon
Gee tossed one of his best starts of the year in Sacramento Tuesday night,
requiring just 99 pitches to go the distance against the River Cats.
Sacramento’s starter, and former Atlanta Braves stud pitcher, Tommy Hanson’s career
continued its unexpected spiral towards Indy ball, as the 51s tagged him for 8
runs over 3.1 IP. Brandon Nimmo made his 51s debut, picking up a single, 2
walks, a stolen base, and a sac fly, so it was a strong night. With 3 RBI’s and
3 runs scored – off of a pair of doubles and a single – Darrell Ceciliani paced
the 51s offense, but the only Las Vegas player who did not get a hit was Gee,
and even he still reached base on a pair of walks.
Check
out the scoring highlights and Gee strikeouts below. As this game got out of
hand, Wally chose to give his middle infielders the last few innings off, with
Muno taking over SS duties for Wilfredo Tovar, Zach Lutz coming in for 3B, and
T.J. Rivera taking over 2B. This series continues in Sacramento Wednesday night
at 10:05 PM, with Tyler Pill (2-6, 7.60 ERA) scheduled to pitch for Las Vegas.
Danny
Muno led off the game with a single, and then Dilson Herrera and Johnny Monell
would walk to load the bases with one out. Travis Taijeron unloaded the bases
with a three run double to LF, and then came around to score after a pair of
wild pitches from Tommy Hanson.
With
one out in the 3rd inning, Monell doubled to LF and Taijeron singled
him home. Brandon Nimmo would add his first AAA hit in the frame as well.
Wilfredo
Tovar led off the 4th inning with a single, and then scored on an
RBI double from Darrell Ceciliani later in the frame, which was the final knock
against Hanson before he was removed. Dilson followed with a two run single
against the new Reno pitcher Cody Hall to give Las Vegas an 8-0 lead.
Ceciliani
doubled home another pair of runs in the 6th inning, and then came
around to score on a double play groundout from Monell.
Zach
Lutz doubled home Nimmo (walk) in the 7th inning.
Ceciliani
led off the 8th with a single, went to 3B on a double from T.J.
Rivera, and then scored on a sac fly from Nimmo. Rivera would eventually come
around to score on an RBI single from Brandon Allen.
