Recap

The 51s matched a franchise record with their 12th straight win in the night cap Tuesday, in what was a not so triumphant return to the Mets from Logan Verrett. The 51s jumped out for two runs in the 1st and never looked back thanks to some great pitching from the 51s pen. Verrett hadn’t pitched in two weeks, and has been used exclusively as a reliever to this point in the year (although he threw 40-50 pitches in 3 of his 4 MLB relief appearances with Texas), so he wasn’t expected to last long, but looked a little rusty in his first start of 2015. Duane Below took over for Verrett after Logan walked the leadoff batter in the 2nd, and Below had another sharp outing, although he got a little help from his defense to end the 2nd. With Angelys Nina at 3B, Joey Wong hit a line drive into RF, which was caught by Cory Vaughn, who would throw Nina out at home. John Church, Scott Rice, and Chase Bradford combined to allow only two base runners over the final 4.1 IP, preserving a one-run lead until the 7th, when Las Vegas added their third run of the night.
Tyler Pill appears slated to get the start for the 51s Wednesday night at 8:35 PM, as the 51s go for lucky number 13.

Scoring Highlights

Danny Muno led of the game with this double that he lined into LF. Two batters later, Matt Reynolds brought him home with an RBI single into LF. After advancing to 3B on a single off the bat of Brooks Conrad, Reynolds would come home on a balk.

Muno picked up his second double of the game with one out in the 5th, this time off of reliever Simon Castro.

Wilfredo Tovar created the 51s third run with his legs, as he scored despite striking out in the 7th – he reached on a wild pitch, stole 2B, stole 3B, and then came home on another wild pitch – Tovar making things happen!

Bonus

Cory Vaughn showing off his arm in RF

Since people have been asking about Matt Reynolds, here is an example of him showing off his quick hands to get the runner at 1B - he looks more fluid and smooth out there than Wilmer Flores. He has been the everyday SS for Las Vegas, but moved over to play 2B in the night-cap.

Wilfredo Tovar had a nice day in the field, now that's a SS!

Catch, twinkle toes, jump, bullet to 1B, out.

Effortless on a tough play
