The Sand Gnats surged for 4 runs in the bottom of the 8th to complete a comeback against the Lexington Legends Saturday night. The Legends kept making contact against Josh Prevost early in the count, and they’d end up with 10 hits against him in just 8 innings, but 9 of those hits were singles, and Prevost limited the damage to just two runs. Prevost needed just 91 pitches to face 31 batters over his 8 innings, or just under 3 pitches/AB, and it’s not the first time he’s had an outing like that. The Legends combined 3 singles for a run off Prevost in the 2nd, and then sac’d (sac bunt followed by a sac fly) Brandon Downes home after he led off the 3rd with a double. Savannah didn’t pick up their first hit until the 5th, and then broke through for a run in the 6th when John Mora picked up a two-out single to drive home Patrick Biondi. They would connect for 5 straight singles and a sac gly to start the 8th, which gave them a 5-2 lead that Jimmy Duff protected in the 9th.

Minors MVP of the Day – Travis Taijeron continued the hot start to his season with a 3 hit day, his 4th of the year.
Minors Cy of the DayJosh Prevost allowed a lot of singles Saturday evening, but stuck around for 8 innings with only two runs allowed. He gets a lot of balls in play early in the count.
