Recap
Noah
Syndergaard had himself quite a day Thursday afternoon in Albuquerque, shutting
down the Isotopes lineup over 8 IP, and doing some serious damage at the plate.
Thor has now been very good in 3 straight starts, allowing only 2 ER over his
previous 22 IP, with 27 K: 2 BB during that span. O yeah, and there was a
baseball game that the 51s easily won, which ran their streak to 14 straight. The
51s bats have been hot for weeks, and they reached double digit hits again,
with Thor leading the way at the plate too (highlights of the offense below). They
jumped ahead early, kept tacking on behind some great starting pitching, and
then Jack Leathersich closed things out with a perfect 9th.
Check
out much more from the start below, but there is not much to add at this point.
Per Thor, his fastball command has been as good as ever over the past few
starts, so it’s not surprise he’s slicing through these lineups like a knife
through warm butter. His curveball was extremely nasty in this game, with Thor
spotting it to both sides of the plate well. It won’t be long until Mets fans
are watching him pitch in the majors for good.
After
sweeping through Albuquerque, Las Vegas will head to El Paso Friday night, sending
Darin Gorski to the mound with a 9:05 PM start.
Travis
Taijeron hit a one-out single in the top of the 2nd, and then came
around to score on Dan Rohlfing’s second double of the year.
Thor
nearly hit a homerun leading off the third, settling instead for a 428 foot
double. He could trot home from 2B after Darrell Ceciliani ripped a line drive
into RF for his second triple of the year. After the next two were retired,
Brandon Allen doubled Ceciliani home to make it 3-0.
After
Kyle Johnson reached on an infield single with two outs in the 4th, Thor
crushed another ball to CF, and this one would clear the wall by plenty – that
center fielder was ready for anything close.
Taijeron
brought Campbell (walk) home from 1B with this double in the 5th,
his second of the year – he came in a .261 ISO.
Rohlfing
led off the 8th with a single lined into CF, and then went to 3B on
Johnson’s fourth double of the year. Ceciliani would pull a single through the
right side to bring home Rohlfing, and then Johnson came home on a bases loaded
HBP.
