Recap
John
Gant had his shortest outing since his first start of the year, but the
Binghamton bats kept battling back, eventually walking off with a win on a wild
pitch in the 9th. Gant has struggled with control in his poor starts
this year, and allowed two walks as Akron jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the 1st.
Things might have been worse in the 1st for Gant, but Jared King
threw a runner out at home to end the inning. Gavin Cecchini got a run back
leading off the bottom of the 1st, and then Akron starter Shawn
Morimando walked the next two batters, but he’d calm down and settle in for a
great start after that, allowing only 3 base runners and another solo blast
through the 7th. The B-Mets bats got new life against the Akron pen,
scoring 3 runs over the final two wins to complete the come back.
Vic Black made a scoreless appearances in the 7th, striking out two as he continues his rehab. The stadium gun had him hitting 94 MPH, but Black said the gun was slow – someone sounds happy! The series continues Sunday at 6:35 PM, with Seth Lugo scheduled to pitch, and the B-Mets looking to clinch the series.

Gavin
Cecchini led off the bottom of the 1st with a solo blast, his fourth
homerun of the year.
Gilbert
Gomez led off the 6th with his first AA homerun, and his first
homerun since 6/30.
The
B-Mets strung together three hits in the 8th for their third run of
the game. Gomez got things started by reaching on an infield single. Jared King
moved him to 2B with a single to LF. Josh Rodriguez brought him home with an
RBI single pulled sharply into LF. The B-Mets would leave the bases loaded in
the 8th.
Jairo
Perez got the 9th inning rally started with a one out single –
Dustin Lawley would come in to pinch run. After Gomez walked, Cecchini tied the
game up with an RBI double to RF. Josh Rodriguez would draw a two out walk to
bring up Jayce Boyd, who has been very successful in similar situations with
Binghamton in the past. However, Boyd wouldn’t get a chance to be the hero, as
Louis Head unleashed a wild pitch, allowing Gilbert Gomez to come home and
score from 3B.
