Recap
The
Sand Gnats extended their winning streak to 6 in game two of their Friday night
double-header in Rome, as Ricky Knapp stepped up to provide a great effort in
the spot start. Knapp had spent the season working a few innings at a time out
of the pen, so he was a little stretched out, and he has previous starting
experience. The Gnats scored in every other inning, with the top of the lineup
doing the damage against Rome’s pitching.
The
5-game series continues Saturday night at 6 PM, with Martires Arias scheduled
to pitch for Savannah.
John
Johnson would draw a leadoff walk in the 1st, steal 2B, and then
come home on a single from J.C. Rodriguez.
Eudor
Garcia led off the 2nd with a single, but was stranded on 1B.
Patrick
Biondi led off the 3rd inning with a single lined back up the
middle. He’d be erased on the base paths by a LIDP, but Johnson and John Mora
would walk to keep the inning alive. Wuilmer Becerra would reach on an infield
single to load the bases, and then two runs came home on a fielding error at
1B.
J.C.
hit a one out single in the 5th, and then came home to score on a
two out single from Eudor.
J.C.
picked up his third hit of the game with one out in the 7th, and
ended up coming around to score on a sac fly from Eudor.
