Recap
The
B-Mets jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the 2nd, but then allowed 10
unanswered runs to the Senators on kid’s day in Harrisburg. Gabriel Ynoa
pitched better than his final line, but executed poorly at the crucial moments,
allowing all five runs with two outs. Senators starter Matt Spann was making
his AA debut (he’s made one AAA start already), and he did not give up much
hard contact, as you’ll see in the scoring highlights below. Julian Hilario and
Dario Alvarez were the first two out of the BMets pen, but they just opened the
floodgates for Harrisburg to extend their lead to 10-1. There was a cool
baseball moment in the 7th, although it happened against the B-Mets.
With two outs and a 1-2 count on Mario Lisson, the kids suddenly started
chanting, “Mar-i-o! Mar-i-o!” and he responded with a two-run blast.
Check
out the scoring highlights and more on Ynoa below. This series wraps up
Thursday night at 6:30 PM, with Luis Cessa scheduled to pitch for Binghamton.
Jayce
Boyd led off the 2nd with a single, went to 3B on a single from
Dustin Lawley, and then scored on a groundout from Aderlin – unfortunately, it
was a double play groundout. Eudy Pina would follow with his only hit of the
game.
Gavin
Cecchini picked up his hit in the 3rd.
Jayce
Boyd hit his EL best 15th double with one out in the 4th,
but would advance no further.
Pitcher Coverage
Gabriel Ynoa
Ynoa
looked very good in the 1st inning, allowing an infield single on a
roller that barely made it off the infield grass, and picking up his first
strikeout of the game. He didn’t allow hard contact in the 2nd inning
either, but he was a little wild, and made a huge mistake in the inning. With
two on and two outs, Ynoa got ahead of the opposing pitcher 0-2, but then hit
him with a pitch. Derrick Robinson made Ynoa pay for his mistake by slapping a
double down the LF line, clearing the bases for a 3-1 lead. Ynoa would walk the
next batter on four pitches, which prompted a visit from the B-Mets pitching
coach. After the visit, Ynoa retired the next 8 straight, needing only 8
pitches in the 4th inning. Caleb Ramsey broke the streak with a
triple down the RF line, which started a 2-run rally in the 5th.
After Ramsey, Ynoa walked Tony Renda (Ynoa was awarded an automatic strike for
a game clock violation by Renda), struck out Kevin Keyes, and then walked Matt
Skole to load the bases with two outs. Ynoa induced another groundball from the
next batter, but it found a hole for a two-run single. Overall, Ynoa was a
little unlucky in this start, as all 6 hits were on groundballs, which is what
he’s looking to do. But at the same time, Ynoa put himself in a bigger hole
than necessary in both the 2nd and 5th innings, which led
to all of the damage against him, and he continued to be wilder than he has
been in the past. Also, he didn't get many swinging strikes during the start.
