Recap
The
51s wasted a gem from Steven Matz for the second straight time Friday night, as
the offense was shut down by Robert Coello and Sacramento River Cats bullpen.
Matz was ridiculous, keeping hitters off balance throughout the night, and
working a 1-2-3 inning in the 1st, 4th, 5th, 6th,
and 7th – see full pitch-by-pitch details below. The only marks
against Matz through the 7th were a bomb he allowed in the 2nd,
and a walk allowed in the 3rd. After his streak of 15-straight
retired was broken on a weird bunt play with two outs in the 8th,
the River Cats were able to scratch together another run. This would prove huge
when the 51s finally broke through for a run in the 9th, but
couldn’t scratch out another.
Las
Vegas travels to Tacoma to start a 4-game series Saturday night, with Tyler
Pill scheduled to make the 8:05 PM start.
