Tampa scored a run in each of the first three innings and never looked back in the rubber match of this 3-game series. Bobby Parnell started the game for St. Lucie this time – he’s blown a save in his last two appearances – and was mostly sitting 91 MPH, although he hit 92 a couple of times. He retired the first two batters of the game, but then allowed a single back up the middle and a double into the right-center field gap for a Tampa run. Logan Taylor came in for the 2nd, and the first 3 batters would reach off of him for a run, but then he’s strike out Kyle Higashioka, and then get a double play groundout from Abiatal Avelino to end the frame. Miguel Andujar hit a bomb off of Logan in the 3rd, which made it a 3-0 game. Michael Conforto led off the 4th with his seventh double of the year, but the Mets couldn’t get him home. Tampa strung together three straight singles for a run leading off the 7th, and Kelly Secrest would eventually have to bail Taylor out of a bases loaded situation. The Mets finally broke through for a run in the bottom of the 7th – Matt Oberste hit a one-out double to RF, and then came home to score on a single from Colton Plaia. McNeil picked up his third hit of the game leading off the 8th, but then Conforto grounded into a double play, which looked worse when Maikis De La Cruz followed with a double. Four straight PSL Mets reached in the 9th for a second run, but then Champ Stuart struck out and Jeff McNeil grounded into a game-ending double play.

Brad Wieck put up another high K-total Thursday night – he now has 35 K: 8 BB in his last 4 starts – but the Gnats bats were quiet, and Lexington took advantage of their chances. Savannah would jump out to a 1-0 lead in the 1st when John Mora doubled home Luis Guillorme, but Mora would be thrown out trying to reach 3B, which limited a potential big rally. Wieck struck out the first 5 Legends batters of the night, but then hit Chase Vallot with a pitch, which opened the floodgates for Lexington, as the next two batters would pick up RBI hits (double, single) to make it a 2-1 game. Lexington would score another run in the 4th when a Tyler Moore throwing error on a stolen base attempt allowed Elier Hernandez to score from 3B, but Wieck was lucky to escape with only one run allowed after he walked the first two in the inning. The Gnats took advantage of back-to-back walks leading off the bottom of the 4th, as Wuilmer Becerra picked up a sac fly RBI. The Legends would swipe three more bases against Wieck/Moore in the 5th, but Wieck struck out the side in the inning. Wieck had a few more K’s in him, but had to be replaced with one out in the 7th and a runner on 2B – that runner would come in to score with Darwin Frias on the mound. The Gnats would get a runner to 2B in the 3rd, 4th, 6th, and 8th, but couldn’t get the runner home in any inning – John Mora was thrown out at home in the 6th.
Minors MVP of the Day
– Colton Plaia had 3 hits and both RBI's for St. Lucie Thursday night, and he has been the catcher for most of St. Lucie's wins this year.
Minors Cy of the Day
– Brad Wieck has been a strikeout machine his past few outings, but has been slighted from this award because of some strong starts by Thor and Iron Matz.
