Recap
B-Mets starter Rainy Lara was a
strikeout machine early, but allowed two types of homeruns during a big 4th
inning for Akron, and the Rubber Ducks never looked back, earning a split in
Binghamton. The B-Mets would commit three errors in the 4th,
including two errors on the same play, which led to a little league homerun for
Yandy Diaz. Dustin Hood followed with an over the fence homerun, and the Rubber
Ducks suddenly had more runs than Binghamton had hits to that point. Things did
not get better for the B-Mets offense, as they were barely able to scratch out
a run before this day game ended – I guess they were ready for some evening BBQ’s.
Reliever Julian Hilario’s struggles in AA continued, but manager Pedro Lopez
let him work through them on the mound, as the game was already ‘out of hand,’
but mostly because he’s too good to struggle this much. Vic Black had a strong
relief appearance, working a perfect inning, although his velocity was not
completely back yet.
Check
out more details from Black’s appearance below, as well as highlights of the
offense. The B-Mets are scheduled to send Gabriel Ynoa to the mound against
Portland Tuesday at 6:35 PM.
Gavin
Cecchini picked up the B-Mets first hit of the game with one out and Eudy Pina
(walk) on 1B in the 3rd, but Jared King followed with a GIDP.
Jairo
Perez picked up his first hit of the game with one out in the 5th inning,
and his second hit with two outs in the 7th.
King
and Jayce Boyd hit back-to-back singles with two outs in the 6th,
but David Cooper followed with a strikeout.
Xorge Carrillo hit a one out double with
Dustin Lawley (walk) on 1B in the 9th, and then Lawley came home on
a groundout from Jairo.
