Recapish

The St. Lucie Mets lost their second straight game in Bradenton Tuesday night behind more shaky defense and another wild outing from their starter. Nabil Crismatt cruised through the first 2 innings (first 5 batters really), but then had a very wild turn through the lineup (4 walks) and didn’t get much defensive help, which opened the door for a 3-run inning for the home team Marauders. Bradenton’s starter Gage Hinsz was hitting mid-90’s with his fastball and in control throughout, a combination that was too much for the St. Lucie bats to handle.
Crismatt started his outing with a perfect 1st, striking out Alfredo Reyes along the way. The frame ended with a nice throw on the run from J.C. Rodriguez.

Patrick Mazeika picked up the Mets first hit with one out in the 2nd inning, but then never advanced beyond 1B.

Crismatt picked up back-to-back strikeouts starting the 2nd, but then allowed a singled and issued his first of 4 walks before escaping the frame.

The 3rd inning is when things fell apart for Crismatt and the Mets. Kevin Krause led off with a single into LF, but then Crismatt struck out Cole Tucker and looked to be taking control again. But he wasn’t, as he walked the next batter to put two runners on. At this point, a groundball might’ve ended the frame, and Crismatt got a grounder hit at Jhoan Urena, but the third baseman made his third error of the series, allowing Krause to come around from 2B and make it 1-0. Jerrick Suiter followed with a grounder behind the mound that was very similar to the one J.C. Rod made a play on in the 1st, except Suiter was able to beat out the throw for an RBI single. One last run came home in the frame after Crismatt walked the next two batters, but then he took control and struck out two in a row to end the frame.

Anthony Dimino singled and stole 2B in the 4th (his 6th stolen base in just 14 games with St. Lucie), then came around to score on a pair of groundouts.

Crismatt added one more strikeout and then Austin McGeorge took over for him in the 6th. In addition to the two walks issued during his first frame, McGeorge also made a wild pickoff throw to 1B for an error, and uncorked a wild pitch, which allowed a run to score.

Mazeika picked up his second hit of the game in the top of the 7th and then threw out Will Craig trying to steal 2B in the bottom half.

Nick Sergakis smacked a leadoff double in the 8th inning but was picked off at 2B before St. Lucie had a chance to get him in.

Justin Brantley was called on to keep things close in the bottom of the 8th, but he allowed a pair of doubles for two runs as Bradenton put this game out of reach.

Down 2-0 in the series, St. Lucie turns to Joseph Shaw (0-3, 6.63) to turn things around Wednesday night at 6:30 PM.
