Post-game notes: I
think the Mets should look to the Las Vegas 51s roster and try some of those
options for the pen (obviously Josh Smoker, then Kevin McGowan, Logan Taylor, Alberto Baldonado, maybe Ben
Rowen or Tim Peterson). Also, I think they would benefit from a change in Manager (Pedro Lopez
would be the top choice from within the organization, and it might not hurt to
let Frank Viola take over the pitching coach duties for the big club), but I’ve
never been a big Terry fan. Also, it seems like a no-brainer to call up Rosario
or Cecchini to play SS while Asdrubal Cabrera gets better, it is literally a
10-day DL.

Post-game notes: That’s
the third homer for Dash in his last 4 games; that’s Paez’s fifth homer of the
year and seventh extra base hit of May after ten in April; after just one extra
base hit over his first nine games, Paez has 15 XBH over his last 22 games,
hitting .300/.367/.600 over 90 PA, with a 26.7 K%: 8.9 BB%; Gimenez has slowed
down a little, going just 4-24 over his last 6 games, although he’s still
reached base in all 11 games this year; Jake Simon's first start was rained out, so he made another 3-inning piggyback appearance, and is 1-1 without allowing an earned run in 2017.
— Jonathan Brosher (@jaybrosh) May 15, 2017
Minors MVP of the Day
– Tough choice between Paez, Dash, and Cheech, but giving the nod to Paez because his homer put Columbia ahead for good, which is what the MVP award is about.
Minors Cy of the Day
– 3 scoreless from Jake Simon gets him the nod.
