Recapish
The
51s couldn’t keep the good feels going Saturday night in Albuquerque, as they
dropped Robert Gsellman’s PCL debut 10-4 to the Isotopes. Gsellman was hit
around during his 3+ innings of work, and his teammates couldn’t make this into
a PCL slugfest to pick him up.
This
was the most I’ve seen Gsellman get smacked around since he was pitching for
Savannah in Greenville two years ago. Albuquerque is the highest scoring
environment I have ever seen in the minors, so it was a tough first PCL
assignment for the Mets best pitching prospect – Justin Dunn might take that
title when he signs, but he’s still a Boston College Eagle at the moment.
Still, there were very few positives in the outing for him, and the game was
all but out of reach when he left in the 4th.
One
positive after Gsellman left was the scoreless outing for Jeff Walters. Walters
went two innings and picked up a K on 3 straight swinging strikes along the
way.
I
break down the scoring highlights below, so enjoy! This series wraps up Sunday
night at 8:05 PM, with Duane Below (4-4, 3.86 ERA) scheduled to start for Las
Vegas.
MiLB.tv Scoring Highlights
Dilson
Herrera led off the game with a single lined into LF and then came around to
scored on T.J. Rivera’s 15th double of the season.
Dilson
picked up his second hit of the game in the 3rd inning.
Nevin
Ashley sparked the 6th inning rally with a leadoff single into RF.
Ty Kelly advanced him to 2B with a single of his own, and both eventually came
around to score. Ashley came home on an E8 (check out the LOLthrow) and Kelly scored on Roger
Bernadina’s 13th double of the season.
Travis
Taijeron hit a pair of doubles in this game to raise his season total to 24.
His first came with nobody on and one out in the 7th and his second
one advanced T.J. Rivera (walk) to 3B in the 9th.
MiLB.tv Defensive Highlights
With
Brandon Nimmo off for two days as he attends a wedding, Ty Kelly had the chance
in CF and got the job done in a huge outfield.
