Recapish
The
Binghamton Mets struggles against the worst team in the EL continued Wednesday
night, as they dropped the second game of this series 4-2. The loss dropped
Binghamton to 9 games under .500, and it was their fifth loss to the 26-39
Flying Squirrels of the season.
For
B-Mets starter Tyler Pill, there was the good – 0 ER on 6 H over 6 IP – and the
not so good – 4 R allowed and 4 of those 6 hits went for doubles. All of the
damage came against him after an error in the 3rd inning, so none of
the runs ended up earned. With two outs and two on in the frame, Richmond
connected for three straight RBI doubles to take a commanding 4-0 lead. Pill
then retired 10 of the final 11 batters he’d face, and the only one who reached
against him during that span did so on an error.
The
B-Mets lacked spark on offense, managing few scoring opportunities against
Richmond Wednesday night. Both Bingo runs came home in the 6th inning,
when Dominic Smith came through with a two out single lined into RF.
I
break down the scoring, defense, and pitching highlights below, so enjoy! This
series continues Thursday night at 6:35 PM, with Rainy Lara (3-6, 4.45 ERA)
scheduled to pitch for the B-Mets.
MiLB.tv Scoring Highlights
Check
out the double from Jayce Boyd and Colton Plaia’s hit.
The
first two B-Mets batters of the 6th reached via the walk and then
Dominic Smith singled them home to get Binghamton on the board.
MiLB.tv Defensive Highlights
Check out birthday boy Dominic Smith handling a grounder down the 1B line. The B-Mets also turned a double play behind Pill.
