Recapish
The
Las Vegas 51s were blown out and shut out before leaving Reno Friday night,
taking a 9-0 loss in the game and a 3-1 loss in the 4-game series. The Aces did
most of their damage against Sean Gilmartin while Reno pitchers Andrew Chafin
and Edgar Garcia were combining on the gem.
The
51s lineup is too hot from top-to-bottom for them not to finish with a few
hits, but only Gavin Cecchini and T.J. Rivera managed hits over the first 8
innings. Their best chance to score came in the 8th, but Gavin
Cecchini would be thrown out trying to score on a double from Rivera.
Gilmartin
didn’t really struggle to get outs until the 6th inning, but the
Aces were good at taking advantage of their chances against him. Peter O’Brien
continued his torrid series with a 3-run homerun in the 3rd inning,
and he’d add a solo blast against Stolmy Pimentel later in the game.
The
51s left for home after the game to start a series with Tacoma, so hopefully
some home cooking will do them right. Rafael Montero (2-2, 4.53 ERA) is
scheduled to start for Las Vegas in the opener, which is set for Saturday night
at 10:05 PM.
