Recapish
The
Binghamton Mets started their homestand on the wrong foot Tuesday night, taking
a 5-2 loss to the Altoona Curve to fall 12 games under .500. Although he
allowed 10 hits, Tyler Pill finished with a quality start, but his teammates
couldn’t put anything together at the plate.
Nothing
came easy for Pill in this game, and he’d finish with 0 clean innings. Three of
the ten hits Pill allowed went for extra bases, and all 3 of those hits turned into
runs for the Curve. Reese MCGuire was a particularly big thorn in Pill’s side,
finishing a homer shy of the cycle against the B-Mets starter.
At
the plate, Binghamton mostly scattered their 7 hits, although they were able to
get a pair of doubles around. The offense has either gone gangbusters or bust
recently, and most of the time they’ve just gone bust. They need someone to
carry them to stand a chance to win on nights like this, but no one stood up
Tuesday.
I
break down the offensive details with highlights below, so enjoy! This series continues
Wednesday night at 6:35 PM, with Rainy Lara (4-6, 3.97 ERA) scheduled to pitch
for the B-Mets.
MiLB.tv Scoring Highlights
Kyle
Johnson hit his 9th Double-A double of the season in the 1st
inning but was stranded at 3B.
Tyler
Pill led off the 3rd inning with a double to RF and then came around
to score on a sac bunt and sac fly. Phillip Evans added his single in the
frame.
Dominic
Smith kept the 6th inning alive with a double off the CF wall! Jayce
Boyd singled him home to make it a 3-2 game. Xorge Carrillo added his hit in
the frame.
MiLB.tv Defensive Highlights
Dominic
Smith showed off his twinkle toes in the 7th to save a high throw from
Matt Oberste while avoiding a collision at the bag.
