Unfortunate news coming in from Columbia today, as Tucker Tharp has facial fractures after being HBP in the face last night and faces a tough road back. Good luck on the road back Tharp!

Game notes
Pre-game notes: Rafael Montero is making his second start since returning to the 51s rotation Sunday, when he allowed 2 ER on 6 H over 4 IP. Brandon Nimmo had his best game at the plate of the year last night, going 3-3 with a bases clearing double. Don’t forget that Nimmo missed almost all of Spring Training with an injury, so give him a break here in April. Matt Reynolds picked up another pair of hits to extend his streak to 8-straight. His walk rate is back up this year, and hits are falling in for him at a good rate again, but he still hasn’t shown any K% improvements yet, which is the area I thought he could benefit most from improving.

vs. Palm Beach (12-9)
at 6:30 PM
Yesterday: L
10-3 (St.
Lucie, Charlotte)
Pre-game notes: Tonight’s starter Ricky Knapp has been successful so far this year despite some poor peripherals: he’s allowed a .328 opponents average and has only 10 K through 16.1 IP. After 11.2 scoreless innings over his previous two starts, Corey Oswalt was hit hard last night, allowing 7 ER over 4 IP. With two good starts and two poor ones, it was a mixed month for Oswalt, but he put up a 27.4 K%: 8.3 BB%, which is promising, and a was burned by a .404 BABIP allowed, which should improve considerably. Michael Katz picked up a pair of hit yesterday, but is still looking for his first extra base hit of the year. Wuilmer Becerra walked twice last night after not drawing a walk since 4/18. Jhoan Urena appears to be putting it together at the FSL, he’s batting .324/.375/.432 over his last 10 games, with 2 doubles and a triple.

Minors MVP of the Day
– I try not to favor top prospects, but Gavin Cecchini's 4-hit night is too good to overlook in favor of Marc Krauss' big night. Jeff Diehl was in the running too.
Minors Cy of the Day
– Lara made this choice easy for me, although he could've made it easier by not allowing a homerun for his only hit.
